The past few cars In my family we have purchased extended warranties I would prefer the manufacture backed "best coverage zero deductible" if its available. Our experience with the ones we purchased, Ford, paid about $1200 they covered about $600 2 months to go, (this is parents car limited income low useage). Our VW, we paid $1800 they covered about $1700 sold car with 1 1/2 years on warranty (transferable) this one was through AAA. Lastly, our Volvo paid $750 they paid out over $3000! 4 months left on warranty!!! The way I see it its like auto/homeowners insurance most uf us will never use it but we gladly pay for the peace of mind. My opinion is you are far more likely to use the extended warranty then your car/home coverage so why not? The MOST important thing is research the one you choose. The AAA waranty (from the motor club not the website one) was fairly reasonable. Unfortunately a delay exists in getting the wotk done sometimes so the work might take an extra day due to the phone tag etc. Still I would recommend. Considering all the expensive electronics and the crazy $125 per hour dealer rates in my area it works for me. IF you are a DIY may not be wirth the $$$. BTW the SAAB I had I didnt buy one since I was putting on way too many miles.
