I know exactly what you're talking about. Saab has lost its spark. GM took the spark away, and that's why Saab is trying to save itself so desperately from the crapper now. GM focused on minimizing costs in Saab and cheapened the sh*t out of them. They focused on mass-producing Saabs rather than making less at better quality. That's not what Saab loyalists want, and Saab is losing their followers. Saab loyalists want quirky, unique, practical, and fun cars. I don't know about you but I don't see a Malibu head unit or HHR HVAC controls as unique... If I had the money the only car Saab has made recently that would get my dollar is the Turbo-X. Everything else I just see as very very cheap. Luckily Saab is getting the hell away from GM, as early as the end of June I hear. They have new models coming out in 2010 and 2011. I've seen some spy shots of the NG9-5 and it looks promising. I still have hopes Saab will come around in the next few years once it frees itself from GM, but for now I will continue to be very happy with my 9-5 Aero.
