If I were in your Saab, I'd consider crossing PA in NY. Take 90 to 86 to 17. 17 is a bee-yoo-tee-ful (as they say in Pennsylvania) highway (designated scenic), and you could turn South to Philly near Binghamton on 81.
Look at central PA on a map. Nothing there except tiny villages, each one looking more like a set for a zombie movie than the last, complete with shuffling extras. It ain't quaint, it's spooky. (N.B. -- I was born in Philly (SE corner), raised in the "Burgh (how 'bout those Pens!), then to Erie (NW corner) and worked for three years in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (NE corner). So I've had the experience of driving through the center of the state.
Also the "highways" in the center of the state are either truck routes or ox cart paths.
You can do what you want. I'm just sayin ...
