OT: Anyone with AT&T U-Verse? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 14 Aug 2009 08:12:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I can switch to U-Verse and save myself nearly $60/month on combined TV / Internet / Phone service. However, I have a couple questions that the sales people cannot adequately answer.
1) How inconvient is the 384K upload speed for the base internet service? We don't upload a lot of things, but would sending photos in e-mails be a problem?
2) How does AT&T get the service into the home? Our current telephone service enters our basement on twisted-pair wiring from the phone "monuments" in the back yard easement. Our current TV and high-speed internet service enter the house through the wall of the family room bump-out, which is constructed on a slab, via co-axial cable. This coax originates from other "monuments" located in the back yard easement. There is no basement access to this room, nor is there a pre-wired phone jack. I assume the U-Verse service arrives via the existing twisted pair wiring. How do they provide signal to the TV and computer which cannot be connected to hard-wiring?
Thanks,
