Not nearly as many as in the past, but maybe it was just not the right day for them. I think Michigan has an entire industry revolving around gravel. There are people driving the trucks, loading the trucks, unloading the trucks, driving loaders that move the gravel, fixing the trucks, fixing the loaders, people repairing the windshields of the cars that get hit by the gravel, more people repairing the roads that are ruined by the heavy gravel trucks... and since I see full trucks moving south to north, and full trucks moving north to south, I have a sneaky suspicion that once it is moved from south to north and unloaded, the process starts all over again and it is moved back south so it can be moved back north again so all the people can continue to be employed while the gravel moves back and forth ;-)
