being worn out, because it is in contact with the flywheel. So, they are both spinning together. It is just the transmission is disconnected from the wheels in the sense that the car is not in gear. If you coast with the clutch pedal in, then now the car is essentially idling. No wear is put on the clutch, though, as it is disconnected from the engine. Whether the gear is in, or not should not make any difference.
