I'm a little late on this, + I think Anders answered your question (I have found the same re pricing). I wanted to add a few additional comments:
Moen - same experience, brass finish peeled off after 5-10 years. Generally work ok, but low quality. Very good warranty though + plumbers like them.
Quality is not all in the look + feel! We have a set of AquaBrass fixtures for the bathroom, and while the castings are solid brass + finish is impeccable, the engineering is a disaster! I would not touch this brand again. The pressure balance shower valve is designed to restrict water flow, to the point that it is almost non-functional (even with our high water pressure). ~1/8" hole! It is a design flaw. The casting for the spout for the faucet for the sink was also poorly engineered, such that an internal separation was so thin that ours had a hole through it (too thin for the manufacturing tolerances = engineering design flaw). I had that thing in and out about 3 times before I figured out it was a hole in the casting that was causing water to pour out the bottom of it!!
otoh, our Kohler stuff has been almost flawless + came with perfect documentation for installation. That said, newer Kohler looks a bit less well made than older Kohler to me. Plumbers often don't like Kohler because of specialized parts, but I sure do... (and I've fixed a 30 year old Kohler toilet)
good luck!
James...
