This is a familiar story... I, too, tried to do the responsible thing when my modded 9000 Aero was becoming a money pit. I garaged the 9000 and purchased a new Mazda 3 in 2006. I also, test drove the Civic, and I immediately headed back to the dealer after the first turn. I couldn't believe how sloppy it was. From the get, I loathed the Mazda. The seats were terrible, the A/C was weak, the stereo sounded like crap, and 170 naturally aspirated horsepower with equal torque bored me to death. Yuk! I will say, though, that it cornered very well. Nice handling little car. I drive 40K miles per year, so I had zero luck selling my two year old Mazda with 80K on the odo. I finally had my local SAAB dealer get me a 2006 9-3 Aero with all the goodies. I shelled out $3K to get outta that Mazda, and I couldn't be happier. I love my 9-3.
