Considering the US government owns 65% of GM, and the December deadline is being imposed by our government (right?)... Imagine the good will Obama could generate for himself in Scandinavia if he simply made a phone call to the new GM chairman asking them to consider an extension. Could it not be this simple? I can't see how this would hurt him in domestic politics either.
