...was not to get the Saab. Now I regret it.
I got rid of my '96 900se turbo 3 dr recently. I miss it. I test drove a bunch of cars, and my local Saab-only dealer had some VERY nice low-mileage pre-owned cars. Especially a fusion blue '07 9-3 anniversary edition 6-speed m/t car that I (and my wife) really liked. Not a h/b, but with the big trunk and fold-down rear seat, close enough.
Then I started obsessing about Saab's future and bought a low-mileage '07 C230. Don't get me wrong, the Mercedes is a nice car, but I'd be happier in the Saab. Plus the Saab is a 6 spd m/t vs the C230's a/t, the fuel economy is much better with the Saab (4 cyl turbo - just keep it off boost, versus C230's premium-fuel-only V6) and the C230 doesn't have a fold-down rear seat. And the way Saab dealers are right now, the Saab price would have been much lower.
Think of it this way - when else would you be able to get a car like this for the kind of prices they are selling for right now?
Sure, resale value will probably suck, but if you hold onto a car for a long time, it that really a concern?
