I had asked a friend who worked at a dealership Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Mon, 28 Dec 2009 22:12:21 In Reply to: How about 1100?, Pat, Mon, 28 Dec 2009 17:43:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
for the summer about driving new cars, and how they drive them. He told me they drive them hard and are careful, but they are driven nonetheless (to the gas station, to "test" them on the highway....BS to me, they should be fine from the factory) This really really bugged me because I've had BAD experiences with people driving my car that it's scarred me, and I KNOW that when someone (like a young dude working at a dealer) is using something that is not theirs, they couldn't care less. Obviously, they care enough to not cause damage to get them fired, but a BRAND NEW engine needs care to be broken in, so the last thing I need in the back of my mind is that in those 100 miles one of the cars was redlined or throttled carelessly. This is a big purchase, and I'm at the point where I trust very little people especially when it comes to something like this. So, to answer your question I'd be happy with a) and might accept b). I mean, really, if some level of damage, (well...not sure if you can call it that, but there is sound reasoning to driving the car the way it is recommended for the first 2000 KM....) is done inside the engine, there's no way to prove they did it! I know, I'm picky, but hey it's a lot of money so I want my car to be factory perfect. No need for "Testing," and certainly don't need them driving my car to the gas station, I'll do it myself.
