...you get a bunch of bidders early on, playing around seeing what the darn thing might be worth. None of them are going to win the auction. Some guy comes in at the last second + places the winning bid.
yeah, I guess that's wishful thinking... this is a much more complicated deal... but the good news from Swade is at least another potential bidder is coming into the picture...
I get the feeling that while Whitacre is saying "bring the money" he is not necessarily disclosing what amount (if any) will be sufficient to close the deal... This may make some business sense for GM if played well (encourages higher bids). OTOH, if GM really does not have an idea of what they want to close the deal, or don't want to at all, or are just plain incompetent, it's not good news for SAAB. From Bard Ecker's comments + based on how far they got with that deal + how things have progressed over the past month or so, I have a bad feeling about this...
