Saab started building cars in Sweden, yes. But over the years, they have used plants in other countries.
First addition was the plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland. As early as the Saab 96, Saab was building cars there. All C900, NG900 and OG 9-3 Convertibles, as well as Viggens were built there.
Next was a short-lived jaunt to Belgium. I believe these were mostly 99s in the 75-78 time frame. They didn't have as good luck there as Volvo did and does. (I had a 7-year-old 99 EMS that was built in Belgium. The rear suspension was already rotted out, and a jackstand went clear through the reinforced jack point as I was parting it!)
The 9-3 SS's convertible was built in Austria, the 9-2X in Japan, and the 9-7X in the USA.
And series production of any Saab Convertible in Sweden is a milestone!
