I was at the NYC auto show last night with some buddies, and I had a chance to sit in and take a good look at the 9-5. It looks so much more awesome in real life the pictures that are around do it no justice; it is a sharp looking car. I noticed some small goodies are back, the emergency triangle in the trunk lid is back for one. I have had every model that been out there since the late 80’s…. 900, 9000, 9-3, 9-5 and all I can say is in comparison the new one seems to have more of a presence/larger/wider/higher car look and feel. The things that are most different to me are the size of the car, the seats, and the dash controls….gone is the compact clean simplicity of the dash and controls, it seems like they tried to fit all the buttons within a 8” by 8” square in front of the shifter, it looks chaotic and will probably take some getting use too, the seats we comfortable and looked like they came out of a jet fighter, it felt like they moved in 20 different directions, with each section moving independent of each other. The overall shape of the dash still has that 9-5/9000 feel. The interior appointing is head and shoulders above any other Saab I have been in. There we tons of people looking and commenting on how great and nice the car looked. Spyker also had two cars next to the Lotus and Lambo exhibits. Never seen one up close, they looked nice……..Oh…and in the Chrysler area there was a Fiat section with two 500s on a rotating platform they looked pretty cool and man alive the two models that were draped over them were bombshells…
