Wifey wanted a new computer. Went shopping for a replacement for our desktop replacement laptop which we never used as a laptop and made the mistake of going in the Apple store. Whoa...hordes (I mean like 40 or 50 people) of blue t-shirted young folks who really know their stuff. Desktops, laptops, iBooks everywhere to play with and many blue t-shirts sitting next to customers coaching and instructing. Basic iMac $1,129 and most importantly Apple Care means my wife has scheduled classes at the Apple store as my coaching her in computer stuff just doesn't work.

Good lookin' rig, wireless keyboard and mouse, plugged my HP printer in presto, they transferred all the laptop stuff over, got Apple Works instead of MS Office and all her old word docs work fine. Plugged and played, no real set up. About the only use I've had so far is to play a cool slide show on the fabulous screen. Took me awhile to figure out how to do a screen saver, but now I know to click the little +'s.

Passed the noise test too. One of the reasons we got a laptop as a desk top replacement was that the old tower had noisy fans and hard drives. So far she hasn't noticed any noise from the iMac and they told us it didn't have a fan.
