You would have to be at the SOC to really pin point it. The early C900's (1978) had a round hood badge, and I think that was when the Griffin first appeared. The Griffin didn't appear in print advertising until much later. The 99's only had the SAAB block letters in the grill. The really early 99's (e.g., 1970) used the SAAB block letters in the grill, but oddly enough, had the airplane logo on the mudflaps. I think that was a hold over from the 96 model.
