I can't fault Saab for releasing this. First, it's based on a FINE platform. The SRX is nothing to sniff at, despite some people's GM hatred. This the 9-4 actually looks modern and put together well. Despite Saab's quirkiness in the past, most of it's cars have been several years behind in technology in terms of manufacturing and materials. I love my new 9-3, but it's OLD, no doubt about it. The 9-5 and this 9-4 appear to be LIGHT YEARS ahead for Saabs. The Saab purists will die off or switch to Subaru soon enough and Saab needs to try to entice new buyers into the fold. No shame at all in this 9-4. This IS NOT a repeat of the 9-7 debacle. Though, truth be told, the 9-7 sold quite well around here. That, of course, probably actually hastened Saab's near demise....but point being, a Saab SUV WILL sell.
Seriously, if you've been in a GM car lately (last two years), they are not as terrible as they were. A CTS or Malibu are as good as (if not better, IMO) than a 3 series or Camry. The new 9-4x should make X3 and RDX buyers think twice.
