He is a trained opera singer, he stars in a staged TV show centered around unpleasant work, who is now shilling for Ford Motor Company.
I like his show, but what are his qualifications as an expert on the US work force, employment, and education? His staged TV show?
Being a media celebrity does not make one an expert on the topic portrayed. These media stars being paraded in front of Congress are actors! They are not plumbers, or septic tank vacuum truck operators, or garbage inspectors, or rendering plant operators, etc.
He seems like a very nice guy, and he may have interesting opinons (which may even match my own!) but portraying laborers in multiple disgusting jobs as an actor does not make a person an expert in any of the jobs.
This seems more like an opportunity for our elected representatives to rub shoulders with their favorite actors than a truly enlightening moment which will be reflected in future legislation.
Sorry for the rant.
