Serious overuse of them in the NY Capital Region. There are several stretches of road around here that have a bunch in a row with less than a 1/2 mile between them. I don't believe that was the intent--to have them replace all conventional intersections. I do agree that in the right circumstance, they are a traffic-flow benefit, but over saturation is downright dangerous. Especially when they squeeze them into tight places that barely give a safe turning radius. Most people just fly through them and big semis just go over the center curb like there is no circle at all. I watched a large semi carrying a wind turbine blade tie up a heavily traveled circle in our area for a good 1/2 hour trying to make it through without hitting the blade on surrounding guardrails. They had a separate manual-controlled axle on the back end and a guy walking behind controlling it to squeeze it through.
