Check out the link, but Anders should really comment.. Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Wed, 27 Jul 2011 08:46:00 In Reply to: How to torque, nwas, Tue, 26 Jul 2011 19:09:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is a little weird. I'm looking at the link that's below, but I don't remember it being like that. When I did it, I loosened a bolt, took it out, replaced it and torqued it to the lowest setting. I then moved to the next bolt, using the sequence in the picture and did the same thing. I THEN went back to bolt one and torqued it to the next torque setting and followed through to the rest using the same sequence.
I now read, in the link below, that it says to carry out the WHOLE procedure on one bolt at a time (i.e. loosen it, remove it, replace it, torque it to first setting, torque it to second setting (i.e. 90 degrees) and then move to the second one.
Also, Anders had three torque settings IIRC. So, to be honest, now I'm not sure what to tell you. The car's been running great since I've done it. If I had to choose, I'd still perform the work the way I did it because I think it's best to gradually increase the torque on the bolts in sequence, rather than bring them up to the max right away.
Anders should comment, though.
