I went form a 99 SE convertible to a 2003 SS 2.0T to a 2008 2.8T Aero convertible then out.

Saab's have several strong points... Seats, value and good suspension.

I now have a Mercedes clk 550 (V8)convertible: gas mileage is basically the same as the 2.8T (remarkably) only now w/ 380+ HP. Rear wheel drive improves everyday handling and the car is overall a notch better especially on road noise.

That said I still like my old Saab's and if Saab Santa ana stayed in business I would not have moved on recently... Saab's other dealer in my area, Symes in Pasadena, are not close to what Saab of Santa Ana was. Bummer. But major issues in the past covered under warranty including a porous engine block replace made me move even though I had warranty coverage. If I don't have a reliable dealer for warranty the car is simply not for me.

I really hope Saab makes it.

It was nice driving an underdog and spanking other cars. The convertible system, seats and steeing feedback were every bit as good as Mercedes 550 CLK and the 08's Aero's suspension soaked up major potholes better (road noise from all Saab's i had on CA grooved cement freeways was always too loud though, even after finding the right tires--Yokohamas). FWD will never exceed rear wheel drive in spirited driving but for those of you in snow states, I'd go FWD... But I'm from CA.

Good luck all! If saab can show a pulse and stand behind their core dealers such as Saab of Santa Ana/OC were , then I'd be happy to drive the underdog again. I like Viking cars!
