A customized utility trailer Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 23 Sep 2011 08:43:36 In Reply to: A stumper--way off topic, No Snaab, Fri, 23 Sep 2011 05:43:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This may be cheaper than the commercial units if you can find the pieces used:
A small utility trailer that you tow behind your mower. Install light wieght high sides (5 to 6 ft high) and a vented roof (think sliding door screen for roof) on the trailer.
Buy a gas powered fan that sits on the tounge of the trailer with a custom bracket.
Salvage some large diameter (8 inch to 10 inch) flexible air duct from a commercial construction site - dumpster diving time.
Have a boot fabricated by a local welding shop for the mower discharge.
The suction side of the fan connects to this boot while the discharge side blows into the upper front of the high sided trailer.
Your mower grinds the leaves, the mower discharge gets sucked up by the fan unit and blown in to the high sided trailer. Look for a used trailer with a dump feature and make the rear panel quickly removable.
