My best recommendation for an on-line partition tool (incl alignment functionality) goes for Paragon software.
But I have to admit that after I had aligned my SSD for optimum performance I didn't notice any performance increase (but I'm sure it must be there and can be noticed if going pixelpeeping with all those performance analyzing utilities).
On the trim side: I've running my SSD (well, actually SSD's: plural) on XP for almost two years and haven't yet come to the end of flash life nor I *feel* that performance decrease cause of no trim support in Win XP.
FWIW: I'm stuck with SandForce controllers, with other makes (Samsung, Intel, Indilix) your mileage can vary.
