Steve,
I love your take on the NG 9-5. Much of everything in life is relative and I have always been a proponent of driving and having my family drive and ride in the safest cars we could afford. Saabs have repaid the favor twice horrific accidents with new drivers but NO injuries just crumple zone crushing of nice cars.
That said the concern for really keeping a car on the road is something we have lived with well over the years with SAAB. No real problems. I think the scariest proposition is the 9-4X as there were so few built, Parts suppliles could be very difficult particularly there will be no fall back on used parts.
No question that the sticker price on the 9-5 was a problem for sales in a market that needed reassurance. That said are there enough people in the US market to step forward and purchase the remaining new car inventory without a discount of $20 to $25k. Or will even more be required to move them. It is a great car but other than us diehards who knows about it? And if you look it up there is nothing but doom and gloom written about it.
