Yes, the O ring can be replaced. Just have to pick it out and replace it. The key is to NOT remove the plastic cap holding the O ring in place (no glue will touch that plastic). Just disassemble the valve, pick out the O ring out of the top of the valve, and push in a new O ring with plumbers grease.
This fix is just like replacing the O ring in a tap. Key is to make sure the replacement O ring is snug and coolant compatible.
