sure, apple has significant cash reserves. so do many other companies...
sure apple and saab are iconic brands with nice design/ergonomics etc + there is some overlap in customer base...
but I don't see how apple would want to run an automotive company. They are probably happy to sell software + hardware to automotive companies, but I suspect actually building cars would stray too far from the company's skill set... even as a hands off investment, it sounds pretty far off in left field...
a similar line of thinking would be to want Richard Branson's empire to buy out the brand... that might almost even be more rational (given the breadth of their businesses - even "aerospace")... still ridiculously far fetched...
very soon, Saab may need a buy out from a car company with an established dealer network, as the existing Saab dealer network may not be able to hold out much longer?
I agree with Zig and others also: an Apple Saab would have proprietary square spark plugs that can only be changed out at an Apple store for $2000 a piece... Apple has it's pros *and* cons...
