How could it possibly be worth less as a whole than in pieces? It defies all logic. If A & B is worth x, and x is somehow less than the sum of A+B, if you buy A & B you still have A & B anyway. It's like saying A+B>A+B. It really seems like something untoward is going on behind the scenes. If they actually had an offer on all the pieces that totaled more than the Youngman bid, that would be one thing, but they seem to be operating on a purely philosophical principle that whatever bid they get for the whole will necessarily be less than what they could get for the pieces.
