I've always been a little skeptical of Youngman: that they have the financial resources, and that they are not in it just to yoink the technology (like BAIC). In fact, their current plan strongly leads me to believe it is the latter: build 9-3ss with no GM tech for Chinese market only until Pheonix platform products are ready... there will be no dealership network left elsewhere! It will be like BAIC's tagline: "Made from Saab, better than Saab!" (yeah really, makes me want to gag)... I actually don't blame GM for shooting the Youngman deal down. They don't need 3 brands competing on "GM tech" in the Chinese market. VM should have got his financing together sooner. Business 101.

Like Tim has pointed out before (as much as I hate to admit it), probably the best bet for us to get Saabs we'd like to drive going forward is if BMW bought Saab to make a 9-3/900 hatchback/vert under the SAAB name...
