I see it in forums and reader comment posts on many internet sites. Are they referring to Apple the company or the stock? Economy of keystrokes doesn't seem to be an issue since spelling Apple uses six keystrokes (one shift key plus five regular keys) which is the same as spelling AAPL (caps lock, four regular keys, caps lock.) Text talk/speech and spelling is passe now that text messages can be longer than 160 characters and with the advent of powerful keyboard apps that predict correctly spelled words and even sentences. There is less need for abbreviations any greater need for posts with proper grammar and spelling. Finally, cool comes from within a person and not from how one spells, talks or which brand of computer, phone, player or tablet one brandishes.
Disregarding my polite rant above, my son used Liquidmetal baseball bats by Rawlings from 8th through 12th grade. Those were excellent bats, perfect weighting/balance and great pop.
