As one of those insurance guys, here's what I know Posted by Gregg [Email] (#677) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gregg) on Thu, 30 Aug 2012 11:47:18 In Reply to: Homeowners Insurance - "Geico"/Homesite, B Millar [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 30 Aug 2012 04:58:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Most of the time GEICO partners with Travelers to bundle their insurance. I have AMICA, for over 20 years, for auto and have been very happy with them. Quick and responsive to claims. That said I sell insurance for another major national carrier (my home is with them) and we wouldn't ever ask for the home inspection report. However, I personally inspect the exterior of each home we write. And sometimes the interior.
You've got time. Invest in calling some of the other firms that are in your neighborhood. At the end of the day most insurance carriers are pennies different in coverages, and having a local agent who you can develop a relationship with with pay dividends in the long run. You don't use a Dr. over an 800 number; do you? That said we don't want to sell apples to apples. We want to drive a wedge with current carrier to show holes in coverage and your subsequent exposure.
Insurance is the single highest combined expense (health, life, auto, home, boat, motorcycle, etc) that folks have and the one least likely to generate happy thoughts in clients when we try and work with them. A good agent understands this and truly does work in your best interests and not to line his/her pockets.
Good luck.
