Aftermarket parts conundrum Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Mon, 28 Jan 2013 12:29:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here is a prime example of what I try to point out when people are asking about what aftermarket supplier you can trust.
I keep saying that noone can be trusted but it comes down to the flavor of the day and what they manage to find right then and there.
This is for a Volvo control arm and I have used the left ones with good results before. Now when ordering two new ones, they didn't look alike and I noticed the different origin of part.
I can't say if the right one will be as good or not. Only time will tell.
I also ordered a set of strut mounts and they came in a Febi box as well and you can tell where the Volvo part number had been ground off and at an earlier occasion, I compared those to a set of genuine ones I had and could tell it was the real deal but in a Febi box.
So unless you have a set of genuine parts to compare side by side or know what to look for, you can never be sure from one day to the other to the next year what supplier is good or not.
