It is such a slippery slope that you would not be able to get a good answer from any of us.
Country, State and insurance company rules are different all over and in the end, at least here in CA, the biggest lawyer wins even if it is not fair.
For instance, many and most insurance companies here in CA demands that you either include all people living in the household as drivers and pay more for that or exclude some and they won't be able to drive the cars, or at least the insurance doesn't cover it.
If your employers insurance company would find out that you regularly drive their cars, I'm pretty sure they want you included on the policy and that they had to pay extra for that.
And being as it sounds like your employer and his insurance company have some money to loose, that insurance company maybe also would demand that you carry a higher personal insurance policy to drive those same cars.
You either want to look into it deeper to get it right or you don't want to touch the subject at all.
