There isn't a direct comparison between EVs like Tesla and conventional cars. A lot of people throw rocks as EVs and hybrids because they aren't as good (or better) than regular cars, but they miss the point. All these new machines are the leading edge of change in the auto biz, and driven by early adopters. They'll get better and there'll be more of them on the road, although it will take awhile. They won't be perfect and there will be advantages and disadvantages to them, but they are coming.
For now, some well-heeled folks will buy Teslas. Others will buy Volts or Leafs. Still others will buy hybrids. And very few of these buyers are as likely to be as interested in performance as most of us Saab guys. But that will change as performance-oriented hybrids hit the streets. Anyone up for a small turbo motor in a hybrid?
