My kids are covered until they are 26 on my wife's health care policy - irrespective of whether they are students employed or wasting away.
My son works a job where they have health coverage - but since he doesn't use their coverage they pay him the amount it would cost in his salary. A good number of companies do this - so yes you are saving your employer some money and they should take that into consideration.
