I would think bottled propane would be the best for long term storage, less CO2, noise and maintenance. I remember working on a farm that had 2 tractors that ran on propane, the motor oil never seemed to get dirty. For the neighbor running on tank propane, I would guess running heat, HW and electric on gas would make you burn through it pretty fast, still seems high.. you should be able to go 6-8 hrs on a tank.. if you had an outdoor hookup to your house NG supply line would seem to be a good option as well for long outages.
