The Japanese seem to put a new body on a car every 2-3 years. The domestics aren't far behind. European makers are on a slightly longer cycle, but still refresh the sheet metal pretty often. And having new sheet metal is important to people who like our throwaway American lifestyle.
The 9-3 doesn't really look dated, but because it's been around for 10 years it is old to most people.
Larry's right... NEVS is better to prove the concept in Europe where more people seem to care about the environment, then get a new body on the car before they try the US market. And besides, how many former US Saab dealers are going to pony up the money needed to sell an old design based on a technology that is still of limited appeal in the US?
The EV concept on its own, unless it is a technological breakthrough with a long range and fast recharge, won't be enough to sell many cars. I like the idea of an EV, but unless it can charge in 30 minutes, the range for me has to be about 400 miles. And charging needs to be widely available.
