Anders - Agree totally on Agneta! But when I saw them at Radio City way back in 1979, Frida was looking very good as well!
I, for one, certainly don't want to see 4 60-year-olds trying to replicate the tours from the 1970s! But I would LOVE to hear what ABBAs music would be like today.
I've followed Björn & Benny since the concept album for Chess (with Sir Tim Rice). Benny's two solo albums: "Klinga Mina Klockor" and "November, 1989" are among my favorites.
I saw a recital in the US of the Karlstad Mens & Women's chiors doing ABBA and selections from "Kristina från Duvemala", I saw a concert of songs from Kristina at Stadion in Stockholm in 2001, with Helen Sjöholm singing Kristina, and from there discovered BAO!
BAO (Benny Andersson's Orkester) is about as close as I could have hoped for for years to a "modern" ABBA. Benny is a masterful composer, and Björn can still turn a phrase here and there. The addition of Helen Sjöholm and Tommy Korberg just makes it all the more wonderful. Even though I was limping around with a cane, Seeing BAO at Gallerian in Skansen in 2011 was an experience I won't soon forget!
I liked ABBA all the way along, and much of the material on their final album is very different from the early albums. It would have been very interesting to see where that went in the past 30 years...
Saab-related content: ABBA's Master of the Mixing Board, Michael B. Tretow was something akin to "Weird Al" Yankovick, writing and recording funny songs, etc. He did one called "Djungeltrumman", which is an homage to the Saab two-stroke. I don't understand a lot of Swedish, but this one is fun!
"Den har ett gummier i varje hörn..."
This was featured on the cassette "Saab Musik i Bilen # 9" (Saab Music for the car #9), along with Europe, The Bangles, Agneta and others.
