Assuming you can get it fixed for a reasonable price, it turns out perfect and drives like new with no safety compromises (all big assumptions), where do you go from there? This car has 160,000 plus miles--how much more do you expect to get out of it before major mechanical systems begin to go bad one by one? If you knew you'd put a rod through the block a year from now or the trans would check out (and it could), would you still fix it? You did really, really well with the insurance company--invest it in something with a better payback. We all get attached to our cars, but sometimes you have to walk away.
