Done this with new cars and rebuilt engines. Never any trouble.
I think of the first Saab my wife and I bought in 1984. C900 base model. Drove it a bit around town and to work, then did a 300 mile, 80-85 mph drive up the Maine turnpike. The car never recovered and always wanted to run 80-90 on the highway, never used a drop of oil between changes.
Warm it before you stand on the loud pedal, and change the oil after the first 500 or 1,000 miles, but other than not abusing it, drive it the way you plan to drive it.
