Hate to be a curmudgeon, but I heard this advice on the local news last week, don't warm up your car for more than a minute when it is cold because emissions.
On a net basis, I'm sure the industrial waste of creating another car to replace the one you have far outweighs the few times your car needs five minutes to warm up in severe cold. So why chance ruining your car through a blown head gasket for a minor amount of extra emissions while the car warms up, and from a car that has minuscule emissions to start with compared to cars of the 50s.
Sometimes we accept the yokes of burden in the guise of popular advice and good intentions.
Let your SAAB warm up in a reasonable amount of time.
