I am very thankful for the general BB. It provides access to a varied and competent source of information.
Anyway, I need a source for cocoa shell mulch. I saw this stuff a few years ago at home depot but it seems to be out of favor nowadays. I found a source online at a horse supply website ($9 plus shipping) and amazon ($20 per bag with shipping). While the cost per bag is ok at the horse site, bout $9 for 2 cu ft, the shipping runs a little higher than the product. $275 of mulch will cost $300 to ship. Ok, so I figured I'd just double the number of bags and save a little on shipping for next year, but the shipping costs doubled also. I'm just looking for another alternative.
In case you are wondering, I need this mulch because a neighbor of mine is running a cat shelter and is currently harboring around 20 lil darlings that crap and pee in my gardens. I read somewhere that cats don't like to walk on the cocoa shells. I am fairly desperate to get rid of these horrible creatures (and my neighbor) I am willing to spend the money, just kinda irks me to spend so much on shipping.
