F&P is one of those brands that is not well known in the US, although they have / had some very innovative products. Their top load washers are very good but others (especially with front loads) have caught up a bit. They have a very interesting top load dryer. Their drawer dishwashers are interesting. Their refrigerators have a non-standard setup, especially how the freezers are configured.
Their DSC (highend) line is crazy.
My sister & brother in law put in a F&P frige when they remodeled their kitchen due to the size (they lived in Manhattan). They've since moved, but they liked it (including the freezer setup) and I don't think had any issues. They also had one of their double dish drawers.
My inlaws have a F&P washer & have a slight issue but it's 10+ years old and not in the best environment (basement of 100+ year old home that has some dirt floors and still has the cistern in it). We have a F&P dryer and no issues so far in 5+ years.
I use to be in the white goods industry and have met people from F&P and been to one of their showrooms / distribution centers. The guys from Australia / New Zealand are a lot of fun. But that was all before the Chinese bought them, (or at least most of them).
I don't know how the quality compares between F&P and Samsung, but the F&P will definitely be a conversation piece.
If worried about quality and the price is good enough, get a service plan... perhaps even if all in the same price as the Samsung.
