I don't even know why I'm taking the time to explain this to you, but here goes: My wife met me in her car, and I made the decision to put her battery into the Hyundai, and bought her a brand new one down the street (hers is getting quite old anyway, and I want that car to remain dependable). I was able to get the car home on the battery alone, but the battery was almost completely drained by that time. So two batteries have now been used, both with the same result. Naturally I assume it's the charging system; I checked all connections and they were tight and clean. I started charging the battery right away, and also ordered the alternator so I had a chance of getting it same day so I could drive the car to work on Monday. Mind you this is squeezed in with prior commitments on a busy weekend, so while I could have done more diagnostic work, I don't think I was blindly throwing parts at the car. In an odds game, it would be the alternator 9/10 times in this situation.
