Per Microsoft's ISO file instructions...... You cannot load an operating system from an ISO file because in mid-load you will suddenly have no OS available. The new one hasn't fully loaded yet and the old one has been disabled by the OS load activities.
Granted these were Windows User Board instructions from 2012 but their rationale made sense when I read the instructions.
I checked again today on the Bay and once again found repair disks specific to a computer manufacturer, and Service Pack upgrades, but no XP diskettes.
Buying a failed computer, removing the hard drive, installing the drive in a working machine (hoping a failed old drive isn't the reason the old computer was in the junk pile) and extracting the OS to load on another machine, is something that I am capable of doing but have no interest in doing.
