I remember reading about all kinds of rear suspension issues in the 9-5 when the first came out from people hauling heavy loads or towing (in wagons mostly). I'm sure a lot of them were C900 and 9000 owners who were used to treating their cars like pick up trucks. Independent rear suspension just isn't suited to heavy hauling, though I'm sure some car do it better than others. With a beam axle you're really not gong to hurt anything with a sagging suspension and your camber won't be affected. I've done some pretty ungodly hauling in my '87 9kT without a complaint except for a little tire rubbing. The other thing with the solid axle is it results in a lower turnk floor, so even more room for carrying stuff. Independent rear suspension is all well and good on a sports car, but I'll take a solid axle on a work horse anyday. It's a shame the car mags b*tched and moaned about how important IRS is until it's almost universal now.
