Starting with 220 sandpaper sounds good, but moving to 180 is the wrong direction, 180 is coarser than 220. Did you mean moving to 320 then 440?
The Bosch style orbital sander is the right type for finish sanding; I have an older Porter Cable version in this style and use it a lot.
The bigger Porter Cable listed, 7346sp, looks like far too aggressive and too much power for finish sanding; I think it would be difficult to keep evenly flat on the wood for an even finish.
Others may have additional suggestions.
