Summers in Boston require a tolerance for mediocre professional sporting teams.
Drive a beater and you risk breakdown.
My suggestion is take a train there and commercially ship the bare minimum of what she will need while living there. Trains are SUPER AFFORDABLE, and make for interesting watching as one passes through our amazingly diverse country. (I actually hear that blue and red states are actually not painted blue and red at all, and that folks are all just folks.)
There are no better or cheaper solutions.
