Makes a difference for Used Oil Analysis Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 27 Mar 2017 13:40:11 In Reply to: Hemmings S&E hot oil change, GFW3pedals [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 27 Mar 2017 09:12:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If you pull an oil sample from a cold engine that was just started and run only enough to get the car onto ramps for its oil change, you will see higher values for Percent Fuel In Oil analysis. At least that is my theory and explanation for seeing such higher numbers.
If I am planning to collect a sample for an oil analysis, I try to park the car on the ramps with the engine still running from a regular commute, then let it cool enough to change the oil without burning my fingers, and not restarting the engine. I use 100K miles intervals for engine oil analysis.
