The key is to keep SPS software programming apart from Coding (Add and programming as Saab calls it).
Each car manufacturer have their own version of software update and coding structure.
But to stick with Saab's and the NG9-3. When you add a key or change a setting in any of the modules to personalize locking or light features, you are not doing a SPS software update and your chances of messing up is not that high. This Add (coding) of modules which requires Security Access is a lower level of intrusion.
The danger is when you are fiddling with the SPS software changes which takes a different type of Tech 2 handling and use of the TIS2000, Globaltis or Tis2web programs.
