Alert me when someone posts in this thread:

Well, I've accrued a number of stories over the years about *ahem* victorious street races against more esteemed brands and of course, a couple of crazy long-distance sight-unseen purchases. However, the story I'll share is of a different sort:

A few years ago, a good friend of mine whom I've known since grade school went to pick up a bookcase he bought on Craigslist, and asked me to come along and help him lift it since the seller was an old lady with a bad back. He was driving a late-model crew cab F-150 and always liked to poke fun at my 9-5 Aero Sportcombi, referring to it as an "old silly little dad-wagon". Well, lo and behold, the bookcase was too long/tall for his 5 1/2' bed and was sticking out a few inches even with tailgate opened. So I told him, why don't we put in my Saab? He laughed and said there's no way it's gonna fit, but that I'm welcome to try. So I remove the lower cushions (love how easy they are to remove) so I can fold the backrests completely flat and have maximum space. And wouldn't you know it, with a bit of scooting the front seats forward, the roughly 6 1/2' tall bookcase *just* made it in completely. My friend just refused to believe it, like one of those unbelievable magic tricks, he kept thinking I was tricking him somehow and this wasn't really happening. A station wagon carrying an item that the mighty F-150 couldn't fit!

But you know what the best part of the story is? The guy just traded in his truck for a brand new Buick Tour X Wagon. And he admits that my Saab (and my constant praise for it) was a big factor in his decision.
